Defeating Poverty in Poor Coptic Communities in Egypt

Coptic Cross Ministries is a Christian, charitable, and developmental nonprofit organization based in Virginia, USA. The organization works hand in hand with the Coptic Church in Egypt to empower underprivileged Coptic Christians (Copts) to break through the cycle of poverty.

On-the-ground case work confirms that poverty increases the vulnerability of Copts to religious intolerance, elevates health risks, and tears down community relationships and familial bonds.

Building up Coptic Families to Overcome Poverty

Partnering with the existing efforts of the Coptic Church in Egypt, the organization provides relief to Copts through in-person needs assessments and follow-up.

Poverty stricken families are then accepted into various programs with a locally entrusted volunteer assigned as their case manager. These various programs include:

251 Families have received monthly food supplies
98 Copts with disabilities have received medical equipment and other necessities
338 Children have received Bibles and school supplies
20 Families have started their own small businesses
148 Coptic families have received financial and medical assistance, furniture, appliances, home repairs and wedding assistance for ladies.

Thanks to your donations and giving hearts, donations have led to the enrollment of 251 Coptic families from Upper Egypt, notably an indigent area, into the monthly food assistance program. Reduced the pain and suffering of 98 Copts with disabilities through mobility equipment and medical services. Supplied 338 students with children’s Bibles and school supplies. Provided 148 families with their meager needs of that which is necessary, including furniture, appliances, medicine, debt relief, and wedding assistance for ladies. Empowered 20 families to start or grow their own small businesses.
