Kristina Hanna

Board Director

Kristina Hanna is a Coptic American whose life is rooted in Christian faith, sacrifice, and service. From a young age, she learned selfless love after losing both of her parents and courageously setting aside her career aspirations to raise her younger siblings. This experience shaped her character and instilled a strong sense of purpose, resilience, and compassion, guiding her to lead by example and place the needs of others before her own in accordance with Christ’s teachings.

Kristina is a dedicated member of the Coptic Orthodox Church and actively serves through various church initiatives, living out her faith in action. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, graduating summa cum laude, with a minor in Biology and a concentration in Mathematics. Professionally, she serves as a radiation therapist, caring for cancer patients with empathy, dignity, and excellence, viewing her work as a calling to bring comfort and hope.

A devoted wife and mother of three, Kristina cherishes family life and strives to raise her children grounded in faith and love. Through her commitment to service, she brings compassion and integrity to her role as a Board Member of Coptic Cross Ministries, supporting its mission to serve the poor and reflect Christ’s love.

 

Akram Tadros

Board Director and Treasurer

Akram is a Coptic American and devoted servant of Christ who lives out his faith at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Fairfax, Virginia, where he serves as a deacon and supports various ministries. From a young age, he learned sacrifice and selfless service through his Christian upbringing, shaping his character with humility, responsibility, and perseverance. These values guide him to lead by example and place others before himself in accordance with Christian principles.

Professionally, Akram has served for more than 23 years with Fairfax County Government and currently works with the Virginia Department of Taxation as a Business Tax Compliance Supervisor III. He serves Fairfax County businesses with integrity and excellence, earning a reputation for professionalism and trust.

A devoted family man, Akram serves as an older brother, husband, and father of two, leading his family in faith and love. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Alexandria University in 1994 and has been a certified real estate sales agent and Virginia tax assessor for many years. Through his faith and expertise, he brings stewardship and Christian leadership as Board Director and Treasurer of Coptic Cross Ministries.

 

Dr. George Iskander

Board Member

Dr. George Iskander is a Coptic American and faithful servant of the Lord who lives out his Christian calling through service, compassion, and leadership. He serves as a deacon at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Fairfax, Virginia, where he leads the Pastoral Care Ministry, and as a board member at St. Moses Coptic Orthodox Church in Ashburn, Virginia.

Dr. George earned his medical degree from the School of Medicine at Assiut University in Egypt in 2007. He completed a General Surgery residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, followed by a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and further specialized through fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery.

He has held leadership roles including Vice Chair of OB/GYN at StoneSprings Hospital Center and OB/GYN Chair at The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus in El Paso, Texas. He is currently Founder and CEO of Reston OB/GYN in Centreville, Virginia.

Guided by faith, Dr. George is committed to serving the poor and supporting vulnerable communities through Coptic Cross Ministries. He is a devoted husband and father of two, leading his family in faith; both children serve as deacons at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church.

 

Mariam Gendy

Board Member

Mariam Gendy is a Coptic American whose life is rooted in Christian faith, service, and values shaped by a strong family foundation. She values family deeply and leads her younger sister and brother by example.

She actively serves at St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Fairfax, Virginia, participating in several ministries, including Coptic Treasures, the St. Mark Choir, the Sunday Coffee Ministry, the Fr. Bishoy Kamel Ministry for mentoring youth, and the Warriors Ministry, an adapted Sunday school class supporting children with special needs. Mariam has also volunteered in numerous church events, such as the annual Egyptian Festival and Exhibit.

Mariam began her academic journey at the Dental School of Assiut University in Egypt. After relocating to the United States, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Community Health with a concentration in Clinical Science (Pre-Medical Track) from George Mason University in 2025. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in biomedical science at Barry University, Florida, with plans for medical school, viewing medicine as a sacred calling to serve others with compassion.

As a board member of Coptic Cross Ministries, she is committed to serving the poor, reflecting Christ’s love, restoring dignity, and serving with humility and compassion.

 

Michael Bassilios

Board Member

Michael Bassilios is a Coptic American and a devoted Christian who brings faith, professional excellence, and a compassionate heart for service to his role as a Board Member of Coptic Cross Ministries.

Michael earned a degree in Systems Engineering and Economics from the University of Virginia and currently serves as a Systems Engineer at a financial company, where he applies his technical expertise with integrity, diligence, and a strong commitment to excellence.

Guided by his faith, Michael has a deep concern for the poor and those in need, particularly underprivileged and persecuted Christians in Egypt. His desire to serve grew stronger when he learned about Coptic Cross Ministries and recognized its mission as a meaningful way to translate faith into tangible action. Since then, he has actively contributed to the ministry’s efforts to uplift and support the vulnerable Coptic community in Egypt.

Michael is also actively involved in church service. He has taught English as a Second Language at St. Moses Coptic Church and has faithfully served in the church college ministry, where he delivered sermons and participated in spiritual teaching and discipleship.

Michael strives to live a life rooted in faith, humility, and compassion, believing that caring for others is a core expression of Christ’s teachings.

 

Clerical Deacon Roumany Soliman

Founder and Executive Director

Clerical Deacon Roumany Soliman is a Coptic-American leader and the Founder and Executive Director of Coptic Cross Ministries. With over 35 years of dedicated service to the Christian community in Egypt and the United States, he has devoted his life to serving Christ by caring for the poor, the sick, and the marginalized.

Roumany’s calling to ministry began at the Seminary School of St. Mark’s in Cairo, where he pursued theological studies and graduated from the Theological College in 1989. He earned a master’s degree in theology in 1993, deepening his understanding of the Church’s teachings and strengthening his commitment to Christian service. In 1986, he joined the St. Abram Charity Organization, experiencing the spiritual joy of serving underprivileged brothers and sisters in Christ.

Since immigrating to the United States in 1997, Roumany has faithfully served the Coptic-American community, particularly new immigrants and families facing financial hardship. Through Coptic Cross Ministries, he is committed to empowering underprivileged Coptic Christians in Egypt, especially those with disabilities, terminal illnesses, widows, and their children.

Roumany is married and a devoted father of three, viewing family life as an essential part of his Christian witness. He regards his ministry not merely as service, but as a sacred calling from God, striving to reflect Christ’s love, restore dignity, and strengthen faith within the Body of Christ.
